Serving at Lee Abbey London is about much more than completing daily tasks. It’s about joining a community that seeks to communicate Christ through relationships, serving one another and our residents with excellence, kindness, and genuine hospitality.

Every volunteer becomes part of one of our core teams, including Housekeeping & Servery, Reception & Office, or Facilities & Maintenance. Volunteers serve for up to 35 hours each week and enjoy two full days off, creating a healthy rhythm of work, rest, and community life.

Each day begins with a time of worship, prayer, and reflection, helping us centre our hearts before we begin serving. Throughout the week, volunteers also take part in our discipleship programme, Lee Abbey London School of Ministry (LALSoM), where we grow together through teaching, discussion, and fellowship.

Tuesdays are our dedicated Community Day, when the whole team gathers to worship, celebrate Holy Communion, learn together, and strengthen the friendships that are at the heart of our community. These shared moments are a vital part of life at Lee Abbey London.

Community members also play an active role in creating a welcoming environment for our residents by helping to host evening coffee bars and social events. You can expect to be involved in up to two evenings each week, offering opportunities to build genuine friendships, share life together, and, where appropriate, share your faith.

Life at Lee Abbey London is rewarding, meaningful, and sometimes challenging. It requires commitment, flexibility, and a willingness to serve others, but it is also an opportunity to grow personally, deepen your faith, and make a lasting impact on the lives of people from around the world.

Teams

Housekeeping & Servery

Our Housekeeping & Servery team plays a vital role in creating a welcoming home for every resident and guest. From preparing bedrooms and caring for shared spaces to serving meals and helping in the dining room, every task contributes to the warm, hospitable environment that defines Lee Abbey London.

Whether you’re making a bed, preparing a room for a new arrival, serving dinner, or helping keep our communal spaces clean and inviting, your work becomes an expression of our commitment to serving others with excellence and care.

Reception & Office

Our Reception & Office team is often the first point of contact for residents, guests, neighbours, and visitors. As the welcoming face of Lee Abbey London, you’ll help people feel at home from the moment they arrive.

This role includes answering enquiries, supporting bookings, processing payments, and assisting residents with their day-to-day needs. Strong communication skills, confidence in spoken English, and a genuine desire to help others are essential for this role.

Facilities & Maintenance

Our historic building is full of character and requires ongoing care to keep it running smoothly. As part of the Facilities & Maintenance team, you’ll help look after the house through practical tasks such as painting, decorating, gardening, and general maintenance.

No two days are the same, and every project contributes to creating a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone who calls Lee Abbey London home.
